FRIENDS OF
BIANCA
Friends of Bianca is a UK based group set up to raise awareness of and
funds for Bianca Associacao, a remarkable dog and cat rescue charity,
run by volunteers, in Sesimbra, Portugal. Bianca take 600 abandoned and
stray dogs and cats into their care every year, many suffering from
neglect and ill treatment, some of whom would otherwise certainly
starve to death or die from treatable diseases. Unlike the USA/ Canada
or UK, there is no one else to care for these poor creatures except
charities like Bianca.
So how can you help?
The simplest way is to become a God Parent to a dog by sponsoring it.
While every effort is made by Bianca to find a loving new home for the
animals, increasing numbers cannot ever be re-homed due to ill health
or because they cannot be socialised.
For a (minimum of) $4.00/ £2.50 per month you can "foster" one of these
dogs. Your name (or someone you might want to give that special
Christmas gift to) will appear on the web site alongside your chosen
animal (and sadly there are currently 99 to choose from) and you will
be sent a lovely personalised Certificate with a photo of the animal.
To choose, go to www.bianca.pt/english and click on "Animals For
Fostering" in the right hand column. Once you have found YOUR dog just
email Mike at info@hamepages.com and he'll make all the arrangements.
Nothing could be simpler and you will be helping some poor creature
live out its days cared and loved for.
If you don't want to foster a dog but would like to make a donation -
no matter how small it is appreciated - just send the money to
info@hamepages.com through Paypal to the Friends of Bianca
account.
Many thanks for your interest in Bianca.

Red Harlaw
is a short
play with music commissioned by Aberdeen City Council to commemorate
the 600th Anniversary of the Battle of Harlaw. It will be performed in
a number of different forms on several occasions during the week of
24/30 July, beginning with the official ceremony at Harlaw Field on
Sunday 24 July and finishing with three showcases on the afternoon of
Saturday 30 July at the Drum Aisle, St Nicholas Church as part of
Aberdeen's Tartan Day (Admission free)
The cast
of three will be Michelle Bruce (Lest We Forget, Clarinda, Doorways In
Drumorty), Allan Scott-Douglas (Jamie in Outlander) and Mark Kydd (who
has performed as Robert Burns in Clarinda).
A stunning
logo has been created for Red Harlaw by
David Stout of Sketchpad (who also did the logos for Outlander and
Doorways
In Drumorty).
A 20th
anniversary special edition of the first book of Diana Gabaldon's
hugely successful series of books will be published in early
July. Additional material in this edition will include a four
track sampler CD, three songs being taken from the "Outlander the
Musical" CD together with a bonus new song ("Claire's Message").
I am also
delighted to report that Diana has accepted an invitation to come to
Aberdeen on 30 July for Tartan Day. In addition to attending a
performance of Red Harlaw, Diana will be touring other Tartan Day
events and doing a book signing in the City Centre.
To hear
song samples go to www.outlanderthemusical.com
On Sunday
14 August, a short version of Clarinda will
be performed in the Grassic Gibbon Centre at Arbuthnott as part of the
Mearns Festival. The afternoon event features one of Scotland's great
interpreters of the songs of Robert Burns, Sheena Wellington.
